Purge Tools 4.2 -
Download Now (FREEWARE)
Version Notes!
*This will also upgrade your system from any previous version of PowerPrint Purge software. No need to uninstall previous versions. !!!This application is meant to be installed by a Kip technician!!! This started as a simple batch file to help remove corrupt jobs from the print queue. Now there's an easy to use interface to help make things easier than ever before. Push the installer to the IPS and then using VNC install the Purge Tools. After you run the installer reboot your IPS. You'll notice a nice little gear icon at the top right of your Touch Panel. Just to the left of your Ready light.
Click the gear icon and your tool page will pop up.
These tools should help with common issue which many times result in service calls. Clear Files - Clearing corrupt files from the print queue will probably be the most commonly used tool. You'll notice two options. One for clearing the top file and one to clear all files. Check Disk - If unexplainable error start to appear on the IPS you may want to try the Check Disk options. Many things can cause a corrupt disk sector. Something as simple as unplugging the machine before the 2min shutdown period has passed can create problems. Backup - This will create a folder called "KipBackup" in the "Installers" directory and in the "Problem" directory (for easy retrieval via the Get Problem Files feature of Kip Request). This KipBackup folder will contain the "kip" program folder containing all the current versions of exe files and ini settings. It will also contain the LogDir. This essentially gets a snapshot of your Kip software settings in case you need to restore your system at a later date. NOTE: This backup should NOT be used to upgrade software. Restoring these backup files will overwrite the new software. Restore - This will restore the last backup you ran. You'll see the date of the last backup in the text box to the right of the Restore button. If there are a lot of SMB mailboxes on the IPS it would be a good idea to backup the system once they're all setup. These can be very time consuming to re-input following a system restore. The restore option does not attempt to restore the LogDir as this would cause a loss of accounting data. On IPS systems the "KipBackup" folder is created on the D drive. When you run a factory image restore (from Kip service menu) this backup file is not overwritten. This means that after the system is restored you can do the following... 1. Enter your Network Settings on the IPS so you can get back into VNC. 2. Install Purge Tools and use the IPS desktop icon to start Purge Tools. 3. Click the Gear icon and Click the "Restore Last Backup" button. 4. You're Done! Keycodes are back. Scan mailbox settings are back. Lead and Trail adjustments are back. NOTE: This backup should NOT be used to upgrade software. Restoring these backup files will overwrite the new software. More about what this Purge Tool actually does... Clear top file in print queue---- Clear all files in print queue---- The PurgeTools4.0 installer will also place a startup script on your Kip IPS
that will look for bad files in the print queue spool directory before the Kip
software is started. Purge Tools 4.1 - The KIP IPS 6.5.339 ghost image doesn't contain the "xcopy.exe" system file. The 4.1 installer adds this file to the IPS. This can be installed over the previous versions of Purge software. Purge Tools 4.2 - There has been some issues with the "Clear Top File" feature. This version should help resolve that problem. _________________________________________________ Secure Kip CopyMaker The Kip CopyMaker software is the best way to track walkup copy data on Kip SCSI scanners. You can setup CopyMaker to require a Username and Password before allowing you to make a copy. This will help keep accurate track of who is making copies. However, if the user walks away from the PC without turning off CopyMaker anyone can make copies with their account. This creates inaccurate log files and can skew production reports and printing cost reports. This is a method you can use to have CopyMaker shutdown and reload when your ScreenSaver kicks in. This will ensure that all Usernames and Passwords are reset. Install PDF Instructions Install Files
