Connect Plot Tracker Pro to your Kip Plotter
|
Previous Top Next |
Click the "Settings" button or access the "Settings" option from the "Edit" menu.
There are two methods of connecting to your printers log information.
To connect via IP address select the "Kip IP Address or Machine Name" option.
Type in the IP address or controller name and press the test button.
If you have installed Powerprint Request in a custom location you may need to
specify the location of the Kawpdft.exe file. This file is part of Powerprint Request
versions 5.0 and above. "Kawpdft.exe" is required to connect to a Kip
Controller via IP address or Computer name. Make sure that your Firewall and
Virus software is not blocking the Kawpdft.exe.
To connect directly to a folder with your log files select the "KIP Log Directory"
option and browse to the Kip LogDir folder.
Example: "\\KipPrinterName\monpath1\LogDir". or on an External Controller
"C:\monpath1\LogDir".
In order for Plot Tracker Pro to access the Kip log files the "LogDir" directory on
the Kip Powerprint Controller needs to be shared to the network and accessible
from the workstation that has PTP. The "LogDir" directory is found in
"C:\monpath1\LogDir" on the Powerprint Controller. By default the "Monpath1"
directory is shared on Kip Controllers giving access to the "LogDir" directory.
However, if it isn't you will need to access the Controller through Powerprint
Request and remotely close Powerprint Unattend, browse to
"C:\monpath1\LogDir" on the controller and share the directory. It is
recommended that a Kip technician be on site while adjust controller
permissions.
When sharing this folder it is recommended that you set permissions so that
"Everyone" has READ ONLY access. If security is an issue and you don't want
everyone to be able to view the raw log files then you may want to grant only
selected users READ access. It's very important that only READ access is
granted to prevent any unwanted deleting or moving of log files.
If you cannot access the LogDir folder on your controller please contact your
local Kip service center or the Tech that services your machine. If you have an
older Kip controller with NT 4.0 it is common for network sharing to stop working
after the install of a new network driver. The most common solution is to re-install
Service Pack 6a. This can be pushed to the controller through Powerprint
Request 5.5 Always consult your Kip dealer before installing any software on a
Powerprint Controller.
